Double Row Spherical Roller Bearings
Tilt capability
NTN-SNR ULTAGE spherical roller bearings consist of: • an outer ring with spherical raceway,
• two rows of symmetrical spherical rollers held in cages,
• an inner ring with a cylindrical or tapered bore
Very high load capacities
The internal design of double-row spherical roller bearings enables them to withstand very high radial loads and axial loads in both directions.
NTN-SNR ULTAGE spherical roller bearings are designed without any central shoulder section
or oating guide ring, for supporting the heaviest
of loads thanks to a maximum number of long, large-diameter rollers.
In association with
the high-performance materials, optimised surfaces and surface- treated cages, the precise osculation ratios between the rolling elements and the raceways that uniformly distribute the stresses
in the bearing enable signi cant improvements to be made to the service life expectancy
Ultimately, these optimised speci cations of NTN-SNR ULTAGE spherical roller bearings make it possible to design machines that are more compact and more reliable.
ULTAGE spherical roller bearings
The concept of ultimate performance
PREMIER, the previous generation of spherical roller bearings, used and appreciated the world over, has amply demonstrated its high performance, technical quality and long service life... The latest generation of premium bearings, the ULTAGE range, now offers you even more when it comes to performance.
Performance at all levels
To meet your expectations, a great deal of research work has been carried out on the intrinsic components of ULTAGE bearings. These include:
• selecting better quality steel
• applying heat treatment to endow the bearings with
exceptional properties.
• a new internal bearing design: increased load capacity,
increased speeds, cages reinforced by speci c surface
treatment.
• developments with regard to seal technology, etc. At
all levels, quality remains the byword, enabling your machinery to achieve its optimum performance.
Insulated Bearings
Current-insulated bearings have the same dimensions and load carrying capacities as those without insulation, which makes them perfectly interchangeable.
The most common type of insulation used in electric motor applications is the J20AA coating. It offers excellent protection against passage of electrical current, even in damp atmospheres.
Bearings with ceramic coating are available with seals also.
Bearings with J20C coating on the inner ring are used in special applications as well as applications where the outer ring rotates. Z shields can be used as well.
Ordering examples:
-
6220-2RSR-J20AA-C3
Deep groove ball bearing with a coated outer ring, with seals on both sides and radial clearance C3. -
NU214-E-M1-F1-J20B-C4
Cylindrical roller bearings with a coated outer ring and radial clearance C4. -
6330-J20C
Deep groove ball bearings with a coated inner ring
Hybrid bearings (HC): Hybrid bearings are characterized by the fact that the rolling elements are made of ceramic. They offer maximum protection against passage of electrical current. At the same time, hybrid bearings are suitable for higher speeds and have better dry-running characteristics.
Ordering examples:
-
HC6214-M-P6-C3
Deep groove ball bearing with ceramic balls; machined brass cage; increased accuracy P6 and bearing clearance C3. -
HCN1020-K-M1-SP
Cylindrical roller bearing with ceramic rollers; tapered bore; machined brass cage; increased accuracy SP.
Rolling bearings used in wheelsets and traction motors
(rail vehicles), DC and AC motors (drivetrains) and generators (wind power) can be exposed to electrical current.
In a worst-case scenario, this can damage raceways and rolling elements, which, in turn, causes the motor or generator to fail prematurely and without warning. On top of the extra expenses incurred for repairs, this also means additional costs caused by machine downtime and the resulting production losses.
A much more economical solution is to provide for the use of current–insulated bearings during the planning stage. This reduces maintenance and repair costs, and increases machine availability – all of which means greater value for the customer.
In most cases, it is sufficient to interrupt the electric circuit between the housing and shaft, in order to mount current-insulated bearings at one or both bearing locations, depending on the application.
Generally, current-insulated bearings (ceramic-coated or hybrid) exhibit significantly higher resistance to electrical current than standard bearings.
